Swimming

Swimming is allowed on the two guarded beaches. Most of the times there is only one beach open for public.

The rest of the shoreline is a non-swimming zone, no matter how tempting it looks.

Playgrounds

There are playgrounds across the park, large and small. This field and a swing is a smaller one in the Pond Shore Area.

Amenities

The park amenities are well maintained and clean. The ones on the beach may be a little busy during peak summer times because of day-use visitors. The toilets and shower rooms in the camping areas are also well maintained.

The comfort stations in camping areas are smaller than the ones in day use areas, and also well kept.

Day Use Areas

The park has few areas for day-use visitors equipped with the picnic tables, mostly by the water.

Canoeing and Kayaking

The park is good for flat water kayaking and canoeing. The campers staying on waterfront sites or in most of the cabins can launch their boats right from the shore. Otherwise one may get to marina and start from there.

Sterling Creek can take you few miles away up the stream with gorgeous views on the way. It can also take into Lake Ontario. Going to the lake may not be recommended on a windy day and/or for the paddlers with no experience as it is a very large body of water with potentially dangerous waves.

For the most part Sterling Creek winds around swampy grown up shores. At the closest point to the lake you can hear the tide, but as you turn away, it gets quieter. On a good day the ride is quite calm and picturesque.
